"we provide the service that lets them off the hook"

"this is a story of a boy meets girl."
Ok seriously, 500 days of summer is ultimate perfection, I have never watched a more perfect movie. I mean, come on, I'm dedicating a whole blog post to it, what does that say about it? It is just perfect in every aspect, ok Harry Potter is a complete exception cause Harry Potter is special in my heart and nothing can replace it HAHA I sound so dramatic but that's really how I feel. Anyway back to 500 days of summer, it's just so good and quirky and totally not a typical cookie cutter movie of the sorts. It's funny in an ironic kinda way and it's really, really sweet, but not in that typical, romance movie way. The movie is just how do you put it.... honest. It's so painstakingly honest and you really feel like you learnt something at the end of it. Alright I actually watched it before in primary six but I was too young to appreciate such a great movie like this back then! Rewatching it again today made me realised it's pure perfection.
Firstly, I just love the soundtrack. I mean, how rare is it that you actually watch a movie where you love just about every single song in it? Most amazing, wonderful, peaceful, lovely soundtrack ever and 500 days of summer just has the best music in it.
Secondly, it has the best, weirdest, funniest, yet most weirdly moving quotes.
"I liked this girl and she took a giant shit on my face. Literally."
"Literally?"
"What? No, not literally, that's disgusting. What's wrong with you?''
and
"Just because she likes the same bizzaro crap you do, doesn't mean she's your soulmate."
not to mention, at the very beginning of the entire movie:
"This is a story of a boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believeing that he'd never truly be happy until he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total misreading of the movie "The Graduate". The Girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parent's marriage, she's only loved two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing. Tom meets Summer on January 8th. He knows almost immediately she is who he has been looking for. This is a story of a boy meets girl, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story."
and there is just so much more but aaaaah with the exception of Harry Potter, with no doubt 500 days of summer is seriously my favourite movie. Oh running a close second though is Letters to Juliet.
